RevUp Project

The RevUp project provides tailored business support for small businesses in the Seven Sisters area until March 2010. It is funded by the Bridge New Deal for Communities and is hosted by North London Business. The project aims to reach out to the many small businesses in the area providing free business consultation on different issues affecting their business.  Small businesses in the area are being provided with the latest information regarding new programmes aimed at assisting them with coping with cashflow difficulties or other issues.

RevUP has contacted 48 businesses since beginning on 10th March 2009 assisting them in areas such as applying for loans, finding new business premises, updating skills and finding innovative ways to win new business such as registering on the Olympic portal.

The RevUp business mentor, Roya Jahanbin, is working closely with big businesses in the area such as Toyota to promote the interests of small businesses. She has also been in touch with leaders of the community to make sure to reach out to individuals who wish to know about self-employment and starting small businesses.

Roya is available at St Ann's library on Thursdays mornings for one-to-one business support and consultation on a drop in basis without need of appointment. She is also available at the Florentia Clothing Village on Wednesdays to be of assistance to its businesses and those of the surrounding area. The manager of the Village, Michael Chambi, has made available one of the design units to facilitate the mentoring sessions. Alternatively, you could contact her to make an appointment to be seen outside the above mentioned days.

The service is answering a real need in the area, as one of the RevUp clients puts it, 'two friends of mine and I wanted to start a small business but we did not know where to go for advice and help. This is really good that we can have this service at the local library'. Most small businesses in the area are owner/managers and can not afford the time to leave the business to look for advice and so their interests are best served by this type of outreach service.
