New plans agreed for Hornsey Depot site

New plans for the regeneration of the Hornsey Depot site off Hornsey High Street have been agreed by Haringey Council.

The new decision follows last month's termination of negotiations with developer Inner Circle, after a revised offer for the site from the developer

The new plans would see planning permission and a comprehensive scheme for the whole site, followed by development in two phases.

Sainsbury's, which already owns part of the site, would take forward phase 1 proposals for a new supermarket and housing. The remainder of the site will be marketed by the Council with planning permission for private and affordable housing as the market improves.

"We've worked hard with Sainsbury's to move this scheme forward since the negotiations with the previous developer were terminated last month," said Cllr Charles Adje, Haringey cabinet member for resources.

"This is an important regeneration site for the borough, and we are determined that local people will see the benefits.

"We now have a way forward, taking account of current difficult market conditions, that will keep up the momentum and provide the most attractive deal for prospective purchasers."

A spokesman for Sainsbury's, Richard Haynes added: '"Sainsburys is delighted to continue working with the Council. The scheme will bring forward much needed regeneration for Hornsey High Street and an exciting new store for our customers."
